Setting FAQ
This section is for questions regarding the setting. If you have a specific question regarding the setting, please reply here and try to summarize your question in the title so other players can find it more easily.
How long do races that do not have a listed lifespan live?
Any race that doesn't have a listed lifespan live as long as an ordinary human does.
Does a character have to currently part of a faction for faction-specific job? Or is it fine if they were in the past but not currently?
Characters may, upon apping, select a Nation of Origin which will define the Kingdom-specific jobs they have access to, even if they don't currently belong to that Kingdom. This cannot normally be changed, although in some circumstances on request they may be permitted to change their available jobs to their current Nation if it differs from their Nation of Origin. This change, however, will be permanent.
How involved do you have to be in your nation?
It's completely up to you! The nations will drive the more human aspects of the plot and a lot of the day-to-day activity will involve life in whichever nation you pick. Just as any country has its share of patriots, protestors, zealots, indifferents, and anything in between, so to do the great nations of Astraen and characters are encouraged to fall anywhere on the spectrum that suits them.
How do characters who are summoners in their own canon such as Yuna or Garnet work?
Summoners will gain access to their Eidolons/Aeons/Espers/whatever as they appear in the canon they come from, and using them will conform to canon. Those creatures will be the versions from those canons, but they would be wise to keep those abilities under wraps, revealing them might cause an international incident.
Do the nations have contacts loyal to them working with the Crimson Rose?
They do. Both nations have ambassadors within the Crimson Rose that help advocate for their nation's interests. They usually spend most of their time making the Lord Commander's life miserable by whining about everything the Crimson Rose does that negatively impacts their nation/doesn't negatively impact their enemy nation enough.
Are any of the sentient beast races such as Sylphs or Goblins appable?
On a case-by-case basis, yes. Contact the mods if you have questions.
Do horses exist in this setting?
No. Only chocobos.
