Rules and FAQ - OOC
This section covers all out-of-character rules governing the game such as application standards, general regulations, and the like. Any questions about specific OOC rules not covered can be asked below and will be answered as soon as possible by the mod team.
Applications, Activity and Characters:
-Players may app a maximum of 5 characters to this game.
-This game accepts Original Universe canon characters and Original characters that are the player's own invention.
-All characters are considered to be reincarnations of their prior life and will need an alternate universe backstory that fits them into the setting. This includes allegiance to one of the three major factions within the game.
-No more than 1 character can claim allegiance to no faction, you must have at least one character aligned with a major faction before you may app an unaligned character.
-All active characters must meet a minimum activity requirement of 10 comments a month spread over threads with at least 2 characters. A post counts as 4 comments but does not waive the character thread requirement (although threads within the post may be used for the remaining activity requirement)
-A thread must contain a minimum of 3 tags from your character to be counted for activity.
General Rules:
-Harassment is absolutely not tolerated. Players found to be harassing others will be subject to discipline up to and including a permanent ban from the game. Harassment includes spreading false rumors and attacks, contacting players who have asked you to leave them alone, coercing other players into situations they are uncomfortable with, and any general actions intended to harm the player's good standing in the community through lies or deliberate skewing of fact. Players with a noted history of harassment may be preemptively banned from Refracted Light at the prerogative of the mod team.

-Players cannot dictate the action of any other player character or player-run NPC without their explicit consent.
-Players are not to use knowledge they possess out of character to influence the actions their character takes in character.
-All explicit content is to be kept under age-locked post and text-cut with appropriate warnings. This applies to both violent and sexual content. Please note this is not an 18+ game and plan content appropriately.

Is it possible to app more than 5 characters?
Yes! If you are at the 5 character limit and make double activity for all active characters, you may app one additional character. There is no upward limit to how many additional slots you may have, and you may also play one additional unaligned for every 3 slots you have (one extra unaligned character at 3, 6, and 9 slots).
There's a player who wants to app into the game who I have bad history with, what do I do?
We unfortunately cannot police the game and preemptively ban players who have done nothing of major concern because of bad blood with existing players. If you have an issue with a new player or existing player, we ask that you not tag or communicate with them. If necessary, please ask them not to tag or interact with you.
A player asked me not to tag or interact with them, what do I do?
Respect their wishes. Nobody is required to play with you and unfortunately you aren't going to always get along with anybody. If you have been asked not to tag somebody, just let it be. There are plenty of other players in the game. Please also don't make a big deal about it. We understand that it can hurt to be asked not to tag someone, but if they have a problem with you and want to avoid you the worst thing you can do is try to make them feel bad for it or try to force your presence on them when it is unwanted.
